Well done on taking this first step
You have contemplated a full health check-up for a while and have finally decided the time has come to put your health first and go for it! Go you!
Congratulations on taking the important first step! We understand how it might feel daunting and confusing to know what all the testing means and what to choose, so we’re here to demystify things for you.
The blood tests included in your preventative health screening depend on which Wellman or Wellwoman package you choose.
Tests included in a Full Body Check-up

Our medicals include an average of 45 blood tests for the basic package, with the number increasing with different level packages. We have stripped them of jargon for you here:
- Full haematology profile: Full blood count and information on your red and white blood cells and platelets.
- Infection and inflammation markers
- Full cholesterol screen: LDL levels, also known as “bad” cholesterol, HDL, also known as “good” cholesterol because it is cardioprotective, and triglyceride levels, which are fatty acids and the main constituents of body fat in humans.
- Kidney function screen: Including filtration and hydration to get an indication of any abnormalities with how well the kidneys are doing their job and how quickly body waste is being removed.
- Liver function screen: ALT, Gamma GT and AST enzymes found in the liver cells, which leak into the blood if liver cells are damaged. Bilirubin, an increase of which can cause jaundice. Albumin, a protein produced by the liver, also accounts for 60% of the total protein in the blood, playing a crucial role in maintaining tissue growth and repair.
- Muscle damage markers, a helpful indicator of any heart damage
- Calcium screen: To diagnose and monitor a range of conditions relating to the bones, heart, nerves, kidneys and teeth.
- Potassium level
- Sodium level
- Iron profile, including ferritin and serum iron levels
- Glucose level: taken when you are fasting to check for signs of diabetes.
- Vitamin D level
- Thyroid Function screen: This test examines the levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroxine (T4), also referred to as “free” T4, to monitor and assess the severity of hypothyroidism. Additionally, it measures the level of triiodothyronine (T3) to assess the severity of hyperthyroidism.
- Urinalysis to check for signs of blood, infection, protein and sugar.
- Prostate-Specific Antigen test (for men): Checks for levels of the prostate-specific antigen protein in the blood produced by both malignant and non-malignant cells of the prostate gland as a potential early indicator of prostate cancer.
- Smear test and HPV screen (for women): Cervical smear and screening for all types of high-risk HPV infections, including HPV 16, HPV 18/45, HPV 31, 33, 35, 52, 58, HPV 51, and 59, as well as HPV 39, 56, 66, and 68.
- Hormone Screen: Including oestrogen, testosterone, progesterone, and prolactin. An invaluable tool for the diagnosis of women’s and men’s health issues, as well as helping in the understanding of age-related changes, fertility issues, and more.
- Sexual health screen: Including HIV, Hepatitis B & C, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and bacterial infections tests for complete reassurance.
Depending on examination and any presenting complaints, additional blood tests can include various cancer markers, food intolerances, deficiencies, and allergy profiles. All of our annual check-ups include a free comprehensive blood profile within the next 6 months to help you monitor any abnormal markers.
