Fatigue can arise from various common causes, including anaemia and iron deficiency, which affect oxygen transport and energy production. Thyroid dysfunction and low vitamin D levels can also contribute by disrupting metabolism and bone health, respectively. Viral illnesses like Epstein Barr Virus and influenza may lead to prolonged fatigue. Diabetes, nutritional deficiencies, and food intolerances such as lactose and fructose intolerance can impair energy levels and digestive health.
Poor gut health, stress, and burnout are additional factors impacting fatigue, alongside lifestyle choices that affect sleep, diet, and physical activity levels. During your Fatigue Health Check, an experienced doctor will listen to your concerns and discuss likely causes. They will be interested in understanding when you noticed your symptoms, what might have preceded them, your past medical history, your family history, your stresses and demands and your lifestyle.
They will then conduct tests that include all of the elements of our Platinum Blood Profile, which looks at the most common causes, from anaemia to iron deficiency to thyroid dysfunction and vitamin deficiencies.
Once your results are back (usually within 24 hours), they will call you to discuss them and explore the next steps. If you need treatment, this will be provided, and lifestyle advice will also be given to support your recovery.
