If you are a food handler, you will usually need to be screened for parasites and other infections. Some companies also require drug testing. For women, some companies mandate a cervical smear test and a blood pregnancy test.

The doctor will review your medical history, current medications, and any specific health concerns. Expect a comprehensive physical exam which may include checking your vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, etc.), and assessing your overall health. Depending on your age, health status, and cruise line requirements, additional tests such as blood tests, ECGs, or chest X-rays might be required. The doctor will complete any necessary forms or certifications needed for the cruise or airline.
Review any recommendations or instructions provided by the doctor. Keep a copy of your medical clearance and any relevant medical records with you while travelling.
