Wellman Examinations

Preventative Healthcare Screening for Men

Our Wellman medicals are popular preventative screenings that can help identify your health risk factors. For the best care it is essential that the risks are detected early on.

At our clinics we strongly believe in the importance of preventative care. To reflect the wide variety of the needs of our patients we are offering several Wellman packages:

Bronze Wellman

Bronze Wellman includes a thorough consultation and examination with an experienced doctor, resting electrocardiogram, extensive blood testing, and a follow-up consultation or a written report summarizing the medical as well as giving recommendations for future care.

The blood testing includes:

  • Full haematology profile
  • Infection and inflammation markers
  • Full cholesterol screen
  • Kidney function screen
  • Muscle damage markers
  • Calcium screen
  • Potassium level
  • Sodium level
  • Iron profile
  • Glucose level
  • Vitamin D level
  • Thyroid Function Screen
  • Prostate specific antigen

Silver Wellman

The Silver Wellman is further extended with an additional HbA1C test. This test can help identify if you are at risk of developing diabetes and is vitally important if you have any symptoms of diabetes, have family history of diabetes or are concerned about your diabetes risk. Untreated diabetes can cause heart disease and increase your risk of heart attacks and stroke, impair your vision and even cause blindness, cause kidney problems and neurological issues.

Gold Wellman

Hormone screening is often recommended for men over 40 years old and for younger men who are experiencing symptoms. The Gold Wellman package includes a full male hormone screen. This special profile includes FSH, LH, Testosterone, SHBG, Free Androgen Index, DHEA Sulphate, Prolactin and Glucose. Hormone screening can provide you with the answers related to erectile dysfunction, sex drive, vitality, tiredness and more.

Platinum Wellman

To provide you the most comprehensive overview of your health we have created a special Platinum package that combines the benefits of all other Wellman medicals as well as the added benefit of a comprehensive sexual health screen that covers HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhoea and bacterial infections. For total peace of mind and the most comprehensive overview available, this is the screening package for you.

Tailor-made Wellman

For those who would like to create their own tailor-made Wellman for their specific needs, you can now create your own Wellman health screening. We start with the basics – an examination and consultation, extended full blood profile and follow up consultation for £390. You can then add any components that you are especially interested in:

  • ECG
  • PSA
  • HbA1c
  • Hormone screen
  • Comprehensive sexual health screen

To discuss your options further with our experienced team, call us and we would be delighted to talk you through our health screening services.

Your doctor will give you a call to talk you through the results within 24 hours of your medical. The comprehensive report summing up the examination, its results and suggestion will be sent to you by email within 7 working days.

What are the most common conditions affecting men?

The major health conditions that affect only men are prostate cancer, prostatitis, testicular cancer, and low testosterone. It is also common for men to experience health problems caused by stress, or sexual issues such as erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation.

What can I do to keep myself healthy?

Lifestyle choices can make a huge impact on your long-term health. Things such as healthy diet, regular physical exercise, managing stress, practicing moderation with alcohol and drugs, can all make a difference. It is also important to go for regular medical check-ups, even when nothing is wrong.

Can men get breast cancer?

Yes, in rare cases men can develop breast cancer, although it is much less common than in women. Symptoms of male breast cancer include changes in the breast tissue or skin texture, the sudden appearance of a lump, or changes in the nipple such as discharge or inversion. Extra tissue around the breasts may be due to gynecomastia.
