The optimum profile to understand your cardiac risk & much more

The next step from our popular Platinum blood profile is our fully comprehensive Diamond Blood Test, designed to give you a great overview of your current health and help you understand your future health risks, including diabetes, heart attacks and strokes.

The Diamond Blood Profile gives outstanding insight into your future risk by testing several important biomarkers.

Fasting Insulin

Fasting insulin measures the insulin level in the blood after a period without food. Elevated fasting insulin levels can indicate insulin resistance, a precursor to type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome.

A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism found that individuals with high fasting insulin were at a significantly greater risk of developing diabetes, even if their blood sugar levels remained normal.

Apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1)

ApoA1 is a major high-density lipoprotein (HDL) component, often called “good” cholesterol. Higher levels of ApoA1 are associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease.

Recent findings indicate that ApoA1 may play a role in cardiovascular risk assessment beyond traditional lipid panels. A study in Circulation demonstrated that elevated ApoA1 levels correlated with a reduced incidence of heart attacks, suggesting its potential as a valuable biomarker for cardiovascular health.

Apolipoprotein B (ApoB)

ApoB is the primary low-density lipoprotein (LDL) protein, or “bad” cholesterol. It is a critical marker for assessing cardiovascular risk, as each ApoB-containing lipoprotein particle can contribute to atherosclerosis.

A meta-analysis published in the European Heart Journal revealed that ApoB levels are a stronger predictor of cardiovascular events than traditional LDL cholesterol measurements. This underscores the importance of measuring ApoB in evaluating cardiovascular risk and tailoring treatment strategies.

Lipoprotein (a) [Lp(a)]

Lp(a) is a type of lipoprotein that carries cholesterol in the blood and is genetically determined. Elevated levels are associated with an increased risk of heart disease and stroke.

Recent research has highlighted the significance of Lp(a) in cardiovascular risk, especially in individuals with a family history of heart disease. A study in The Journal of the American College of Cardiology found that high Lp(a) levels independently predicted cardiovascular events, prompting calls for routine measurement in high-risk populations.

Lipoprotein-associated Phospholipase A2

Lp-PLA2 is an enzyme associated with inflammation and atherosclerosis. Elevated levels may indicate plaque instability and increased cardiovascular risk.

A study published in the journal Stroke showed that higher Lp-PLA2 levels were linked to an increased risk of stroke and cardiovascular events. This finding emphasizes the potential for Lp-PLA2 as a therapeutic target and a risk marker in cardiovascular disease management.

High-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP)

hs-CRP is a marker of inflammation in the body. Elevated levels are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease and other inflammatory conditions.

Fibrinogen

Fibrinogen is a protein involved in blood clotting. Elevated fibrinogen levels can indicate an increased risk of thrombosis and cardiovascular events.

A cohort study in the journal Blood found a strong association between elevated fibrinogen levels and the risk of heart disease and stroke. This highlights the importance of fibrinogen as a potential target for intervention in at-risk individuals.

Homocysteine

Homocysteine is an amino acid that, at elevated levels, is linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and other health issues.

A systematic review in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition demonstrated that high homocysteine levels are associated with cognitive decline and dementia, indicating its broader implications for health beyond cardiovascular risk.

Why know your future cardiac risk?

Understanding your cardiac risk is more crucial than ever, as heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death. While many people may think of heart health as something to consider only in later years, the reality is that heart disease can affect individuals of all ages. Testing is vital in assessing heart health and preventing potential issues before they become serious.

Early Detection Saves Lives

One of the most compelling reasons to undergo cardiac testing is the potential for early detection of heart conditions. Many cardiac issues, such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and even coronary artery disease, often develop without noticeable symptoms. Regular testing can reveal these silent threats, allowing for timely interventions that can significantly reduce the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other severe complications.

How does knowing your future health risks enable early intervention?
Understanding your cardiac and other health risk empowers you to make informed decisions about your health. With knowledge of your risk factors, you can implement lifestyle changes that promote heart health, such as adopting a balanced diet, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, and avoiding tobacco and excessive alcohol. This proactive approach not only enhances your overall well-being but also gives you more control over your health journey.
How do family history and genetic factors influence health risks?
Family history plays a significant role in cardiac risk. If heart disease runs in your family, it’s especially important to undergo testing, as genetic factors can predispose you to similar conditions. Genetic testing may also be an option for some individuals, offering further insights into inherited conditions that could affect your heart health.
