LGBTQ+ Inclusion Policy
London is a wonderful, vibrant city, and our LGBTQ+ community are very important to us at City Walk-in Clinic. We care that you feel safe, heard and never misgendered or mistreated. We are learning every day to improve our practice to further real inclusion – for us, this is more than a policy or just words.
City Walk‑In Clinic is proud to provide accessible, inclusive healthcare to everyone, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. We aim to offer fast, respectful, and judgment-free medical care.
Inclusive Care in Practice
We respect each patient’s identity and use affirmed names and pronouns. We only ask questions about sex, gender, or hormones when they are directly relevant to your care.
Gender & Blood Testing
Laboratories currently require a gender marker to apply the correct reference ranges for blood tests. These ranges are influenced by hormone levels and physiology, and are necessary to ensure accurate and safe interpretation of results.
For trans patients, the reference range used depends on hormone therapy. Where a patient has been on consistent gender‑affirming hormone therapy for around one year or more, laboratories generally recommend using the reference ranges of the affirmed gender.
This process is purely clinical and is not a judgment on gender identity. It exists only because laboratory systems have not yet fully adapted to individualised or non‑binary reference ranges.
Talking to Us
If you have questions or concerns, our clinicians are happy to explain how tests are processed and interpreted. We believe clarity and respect go hand in hand.
Our Values
City Walk‑In Clinic is committed to dignity, inclusivity, and continually improving how we serve our diverse community. We love London and everyone in it.
