Thinking about a health check-up? Great move

We are seeing a growing demand for health check-ups at our clinic as patients seek to take control of their health and prevent illness from taking hold.

Many people have become more health conscious and knowledgeable about their health, which is a significant development and encouragement for us in healthcare. A big part of looking after ourselves is routine check-ups, whether a physical examination or testing.

Why are routine health check-ups important?

The reason testing is so important is that many illnesses do not show any symptoms and are not noticeable until they are severe. For example, you won’t know you have high cholesterol until you, unfortunately, have a heart attack or stroke.

You might not pick up diabetes until very late because the symptoms can be quiet – from tiredness to going to the toilet more often, for example. This is also true of sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

So the best way to ensure you keep up with your health is regular check-ups.

I want to have a check-up, but I’m worried about the results

This is such a common worry! Our advice is even if some of the results are initially upsetting, it’s always best to rip the plaster off and face the music. We know it’s easy to bury our heads in the sand and hope for the best. But knowing is always better than not knowing; the sooner you know, the better.

Many findings, such as high cholesterol or pre-diabetes, can be sorted with minor lifestyle changes or a simple daily pill, so nipping these in the bud is a great way to prevent things from worsening. You’ve got this! It’s totally worth it.

I’ve let myself go a bit & hate doctors pointing that out

Oh, we know! Nothing worse than a doctor who tells you what you already know! We all go through different chapters in our health cycles, and we totally understand that. Things can shift health-wise if we’ve been through a rough or stressful period or just been overworked and unable to exercise. A health check-up is there to give us peace of mind and support us in getting back into healthy habits with the knowledge we need to make a positive difference in the future.

Can I have a full head-to-toe check-up with you?

What if I want to check my blood pressure & have a blood test?

Definitely! Some of our patients come in regularly for a quick blood test, for example, our full blood profile, to keep on top of their markers and keep track of their progress, or pop in for the use of our medical-grade blood pressure monitors.
