It does this by measuring the amount of insulin in your blood after fasting for at least 8 hours.
Detecting insulin resistance early lowers your chances of developing Type 2 diabetes or other health issues.
Insulin is a hormone made by your pancreas that helps control your blood sugar levels. When you eat, your blood sugar goes up, and insulin helps move that sugar into your cells so they can use it for energy or store it for later. It also helps manage how your body processes fat.
In people with diabetes, the body either does not make enough insulin or does not respond to it properly, which can lead to high blood sugar levels.
Insulin resistance happens when your body’s cells do not respond well to insulin. This makes your pancreas work harder to keep your blood sugar levels in check.

You will be seen by one of our friendly phlebotomists or trained clinicians.
You will need to fast for at least 8 to 12 hours before your test. This means no food or drinks, except for water. Remember to let your healthcare provider know about any medications or supplements you are taking. This is important as some may impact your insulin levels or test results.
During your appointment at one of our London clinics, your healthcare professional will take a small sample of your blood. The blood draw is quick and usually does not take more than a few minutes. There may be slight bruising at the injection site afterwards, but this is completely normal.
Your healthcare provider will typically provide your test results within a few days, depending on the lab processing time. Based on your results, additional tests, lifestyle changes, or treatments may be suggested.
